REPUBLICAN PARTY OF ST CROIX COUNTY DONATES FIRE SUPPRESSION UNITS TO COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT ENTITIES
Twenty-two state-of-the-art fire suppression units have been donated to the law enforcement entities of St Croix County. The donations came from the Republican Party of St Croix County as part of their “Back the Badge” Fundraising Campaign.
Wanda Nielsen, Hugh Gwin and Dianne Kiel presented the units during a brief ceremony at the St. Croix County Administration Building. Receiving the units on behalf of the county and various municipalities in the county were Sheriff Scott Knudson, the Chiefs of Police of Hudson and North Hudson, Geoff Willems and Mark Richert, and the Chairman of the Public Protection and Judiciary Committee of the County Board, Bob Feidler.
The twelve units are whole house units that are portable, can be carried in squad cars, and be instantly deployed into larger home fires. The other ten units are smaller canister units that are most appropriate for car fires and other smaller fires.
The larger units were shared between the county and six municipal police departments. The remaining units were shared with other municipal departments. The gift is valued at over $10,000 and insurance companies will typically replace units when they are utilized to protect their insureds.
Sheriff Knudson stated “This gift will save lives and property. It represents a valuable addition to our efforts to provide public safety and will be especially valued by municipalities who might not be able to budget for these items.”
